In chlorinated pools, the amount of chloramines - bound chlorine, which causes a typical chlorine odor and irritates the eyes, mucous membranes, skin and causes allergies or respiratory problems, is measured as a parameter determining water quality. It is scientifically proven that trichloramines in particular are the cause of the increased incidence of asthma in children who regularly visit chlorinated pools. The latest version of DIN 19643 states: Only UV-M (medium pressure UV = wide spectrum UV) systems can properly disinfect pool water and at the same time reduce the bound chlorine content. Low pressure UV systems cannot do this and are therefore not suitable for such applications.

Why choose ProfiPure UVM technology over standard UVL?

Two types of UV lamps are used to treat water. The most important difference is invisible to the human eye. This is the ultraviolet (UV) radiation that the lamps emit. UVL lamps commonly emit monochromatic radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm, which only damages the DNA of microorganisms and their elimination is not so effective. Thanks to the broad-spectrum wavelengths of UVM technology, it is possible to permanently remove more species of microorganisms and undesirable substances, because they manage to destroy their entire DNA, and therefore their ability to reproduce. UVM is the only UV technology that reduces the bound chlorine content in swimming pools, which is responsible for the most undesirable properties.
